The Ukrainian president maintained that Brazil could not mediate to achieve peace in Ukraine because it has shown that it does not want to confront Putin.
“There can be no mediation from Brazil in this case, because Brazil did not show its voice during the G20 regarding the aggression of Putin and Russia. “It didn’t sound loud,” he stressed.
“And this weakness allows Putin, during such global events, when the G20 meets, to hit with new missiles after (German Chancellor Olaf) Scholz called him. I think that if there are strong statements, strong calls, strong steps, then Putin will not behave like that,” Zelensky said.
In its statement, the G20 highlighted “the human suffering and added negative impacts of war on global food and energy security, supply chains, macro-financial stability, inflation and growth.”
He also stated that “peaceful resolution of conflicts and efforts to address crises, as well as diplomacy and dialogue, are essential”. “Only with peace will we achieve sustainability and prosperity,” he concluded.
