Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has announced that he will reshuffle his Cabinet in the near future, as announced by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
“The president said that he will amend his parliament. I don’t know if he will do it before October 1st, but he will definitely do it… he didn’t tell us when, but he will definitely do it,” said Onanuga.
Mr. Onanuga said the president also ordered ministers “to stop being shy about talking to the media” to publicize the government’s activities.
According to him, “some of them avoid talking on television or radio. He asked them to stop doing that, to go out and explain what they are doing.”
It is unclear why Tinubun would make the change at this time.

The expert said that since the ascension of President Tinubu, Nigeria has been suffering from the problem of scarcity, the high cost of fuel and the rise in food prices among others, a situation that has put Nigerians in a state of stress.
“As the Minister of Petroleum, he has failed to provide a solution for Nigerians regarding the hardships they are facing on fuel. They said that subsidies will be removed but the situation is still not resolved. It is said that if the Dangote refinery starts things will improve but things will get worse.
This situation can make Tinubu think of the need to change the new policy or it will be easy.”
Accusations of corruption and terrorism against some ministers
Dr. Elharoon said there are some of Tinubu’s ministers who are facing allegations of terrorism and even corruption and bribery that the citizens are calling for their removal.
“Perhaps Tinubu is faced with the fact that such ministers can affect the value of his government because citizens will see that the government is aware of the allegations against them and is giving them protection.
Kenan, if they are removed from their positions, it will make people stop looking at the government that is tying up those who are accused of crimes. This is one of the reasons why I think they forced Tinubu to make a stand,” said Dr. Elharoon.
Incompetence of some ministers
Dr. Elharoon said there are complaints from Nigerians regarding the qualifications of some ministers especially considering the ministries they have been given.
“It is seen that there are ministers who are not suitable to be given other ministries to hold because of lack of expertise in the sector. Maybe now Tinubu understands that he will make this amendment.”
The politics
Mr. Elharoon said that President Tinubu at the beginning of his arrival tried to dissuade some politicians who supported him to win the election by giving them the position of minister and after a year he wants to change.
“Perhaps now he thinks that he is done with them because of that he wants to bring others who will work or some politicians who were not given the chance to be appointed before.”
Budget 2024
“The 2024 budget has not yet been released to the ministries. Perhaps the president does not have confidence that his ministers will do justice.
Maybe that’s why the president wants to change the ministers or their ministries before the funds are released to the ministries,” said Dr. Elharoon Mohammed.
Making the Cabinet of Ministers or commissioners in the states is not a new issue, where the president or the governor often changes ministries or commissioners or replace them with new ones.
It is related to the protection if the president understands the lack of enthusiasm or corruption and bribery among his cabinet.
However, it can be said that the previous administration of Tinubu, that is that of former President Muhammdu Buhari, did not make such reforms, despite the complaints of the citizens.
