Northern Nigerians are debating on the part of the country’s government that will return in 2027, something that some people think is too early because the government in power has not completed two years on the throne.

Malam Kabiru Sufi, a political scientist and a teacher at the preparatory college in Kano, said it is not surprising if the people of the north of the country show concern about the region that will lead the country in 2027.
“I think there must be concern about the governance of Nigeria in 2027 from the people of the north of the country considering how they are not leading now.”
Two reasons why 2027 is being discussed now
Malam Kabiru Sufi, a political scientist in Nigeria, said there are three reasons why Nigerians start discussing the issue of leadership early on.
- Injustice: Malam Kabiru Sufi said that he thinks the main reason why the people of the north of the country think of power in 2027 will not be related to the way the part sees that he has not been treated fairly. Where did the issue come from?
The matter has come to light since the Secretary to the Government of the country, George Akume, warned the people of the north of the country to wait until 2031 before they start talking about the re-leadership of Nigeria.
Mr. Akume who said this in an interview on television said “the time for the north is not yet. This is my plea to them. Do not let this country be torn apart because of your interests. This is my advice…”.
However, this warning by George Akume has attracted responses from various northerners such as the former vice president of the country, Atiku Abubakar and other groups in northern Nigeria.

Even though the people in the north of the country are speaking out about the party that will lead Nigeria in 2027, there are people in the region who think that it is not appropriate to turn Nigeria’s politics into a partisan one.
Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano and former candidate for the presidency of the country, is one of those who have this opinion.
Commenting on the calls for the return of the government of Nigeria to a part of the country in his interview with Channels Television in Nigeria, Malam Shekarau said “Parties should come up with a good process for the election of the best candidate. qualifications among candidates. Pros and cons discuss 2027 now
Political scientists Prof. Yahaya Tanko and Mr. Kabiru Sufi said that focusing on leadership in 2027 less than two years after the current government took office could create pressure on the country.
