As the year 2025 approaches, individuals and governments are making pledges of what they want to achieve in the year.
In Nigeria, the people of the country have been suffering from the high cost of living for years due to some measures taken by the government of the country.
The President of the country, Bola Tinubu in his inauguration speech announced some policies – such as the removal of fuel subsidies and allowing the market to determine the value of the naira – which exacerbated the rise in the price of almost everything in the country.
However, in his message to enter the new year 2025, the president of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu said that although the year 2024 has brought many problems to the people of the country, he has the hope that the new year 2025 will bring happiness and progress.
In his message, Tinubu said that there are signs that the country’s economy is recovering, although the cost of food and medicines continue to be a concern for the people of the country, where he promised that by 2025, his government will develop food production and to improve the supply of medicines in the home to reduce their costs.
He also said that they have worked hard to reduce inflation from the current 34.6 percent to 15 percent.
President Tinubu also made three promises to the people in his speech:
A program to provide credit to individuals and businesses
President Tinubu said that his government will further improve the means of providing credit to individuals and important industries for the development of the country’s economy.
In order to achieve this, the federal government said that it will establish a company that will act as a representative for national loan applicants.
The company is expected to start working in the first six months of the new year, and it is a collaboration between the company and other agencies and government departments such as the Industrial Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and the private sector.
According to him, this step will strengthen the financial sector, expand access to credit, and support the underprivileged, such as women and youth.
Strengthen nationalism
The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, has stated that Nigerians must be good citizens and patriotic in order to achieve the goals that have been set before and renew hope for the development of the country.
Tinubu said that this is why he will announce the law to strengthen patriotism in the first three months of 2025, which has already been approved by the Federal Executive Council.
He also said that he will launch a public awareness campaign that will develop patriotism and love for the country and increase the unity of the community.
The law will also promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the people of different countries and between the government and the people of Nigeria.
National youth conference
President Tinubu announced the inclusion of a youth rally in Nigeria as “a step to show our intention to walk with the youth”.
Tinubu said the 30-day event will bring together youth from across the country to discuss and find solutions to the problems of education, employment, security, and creativity.
Indeed, Tinubu once talked about this program in his speech on Independence Day 2024.
In his speech for the new year 2025, the president of Nigeria said that the first rally will be held in the first months of 2025.
He also stated that the Ministry of Youth Affairs will soon announce the steps to be taken to recruit young people who will represent the youth across the country.
The youths are the majority of the Nigerian population, but it can be said that the high rate of unemployment among the youths has limited their contribution to the development of the country.
