The Central Command of USA (CENTCOM) announced this Tuesday new attacks against Houthi rebel targets in the capital of YemenSana’a, and several coastal areas under the control of the insurgents, although he has not given more details about it.
CENTCOM claimed responsibility for these attacks, carried out with the help of “United States Navy and Air Force vessels.” “We have hit a Houthi command and military installations”indicated in a statement in which he pointed out that there were drones in said facilities.
“These facilities were used in Houthi operations, such as attacks against US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Additionally, U.S. Navy and Air Force aircraft destroyed a Houthi coastal radar site and seven cruise missiles and one-way attack UAVs over the Red Sea,” CENTCOM said in a post on the X social network.
The unified security command also stated that “there were no injuries or damage to US personnel or equipment in any of the incidents.”
“The attacks are part of the CENTCOM effort to degrade attempts by the Iranian-backed Houthis to threaten regional partners and military and merchant vessels in the region”, concluded the text.
The rebels, for their part, confirmed that the US strikes hit “Houthi targets” in Yemen, although they did not provide information on the exact areas of the bombings.
“US aggression represents a terrible violation and an example of outrageous support for Israel’s genocidal acts in Gaza,” they stated before emphasizing that “Yemen makes a great sacrifice to continue defending itself from aggression while supporting the people of Gaza.”
This military maneuver comes after the Houthis announced attacks on Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and Jerusalemalthough the Israeli authorities assured that they managed to intercept the missiles launched against the territory.
The Houthi rebels began attacking Israel and other targets considered related in the waters of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in retaliation for the start of the military offensive against Palestinian militias in the Gaza Strip. On Monday, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed the interception of several projectiles launched from Yemen.
