–She was meeting with Edmundo. How did you notice it and what did it convey to you in that more intimate and personal conversation?
– We have a connection with him from some time ago. We worked together in very difficult times and meeting him again on this occasion has been very special, because it shows that behind that man that history placed in that fundamental role of conquering the democratic transition in Venezuela, there is also that person who cares and takes care of the others.
The first thing he did when he saw me was ask me about my children, because we met and I was pregnant with one after the other. He always tells me I always remember you on calls with the babies in my arms. And I highlight it because in addition to being that statesman that we saw on the balcony of the Casa Rosada with President Milei, who transmitted that emotion to us, not only to all Venezuelans, I think to all democrats in general. That image will remain in the history of our lives, being able to say we were there, but he conveyed to me in that previous meeting that in addition to being that statesman who knows, who took on with gallantry, with commitment, this enormous challenge that the life, is that human person who gives himself.
He was with his wife, Mercedes, who is definitely his partner, who takes care of him. It was very special and afterwards we talked about the situation, about how he is seeing the most important issues in Argentina ahead of January 10.
– We have the date of January 10 ahead of us and there is an international expectation about what will happen that day. What is Edmundo González’s conviction about that day? What can be done?
– The conviction of Edmundo González, María Corina Machado and the entire Venezuelan people transcends January 10 and I believe that is the most important thing to highlight. It is a conviction that began many years ago, that marked its first fundamental milestone on July 28, where we Venezuelans decided to shout to the world the change that we want and that we need and that January 10, although it is a very important date, I believe that we have to understand it as that, as a date.
It could be before, it could be that day, it could be two days later or two months later.
