He Israeli army carried out airstrikes on Thursday against rocket launchers located in military installations of the Shiite militia Hezbollah in the region of Nabatiehsouth of Lebanonaccording to an official statement issued by the Israeli armed forces through its official account on the social network X.
This new bombing marks an escalation in tensions despite the ceasefire agreement signed in November, which is still technically in force.
“The Israeli air force, under the Intelligence Directorate, attacked a Hezbollah medium-range rocket launcher at a military site belonging to the terrorist organization,” the Israeli statement said, adding that more rocket launchers were also attacked adjacent to another military installation in the same area.
The bombing, according to the Israeli armed forces, occurred after the Lebanese army did not respond to their request to neutralize these rocket launchers.
“Before the attack, a request was sent to the Lebanese Armed Forces to neutralize the rocket launchers “They represented a threat to Israeli civilians and Army troops,” the statement detailed.
The ceasefire, signed on November 26 after a year of clashes between the Israeli Army and Hezbollah, stipulated that the Shiite militia had to withdraw north of the river Litanylocated 29 kilometers from the border with Israel, while Israeli troops would withdraw to the south of the country to allow the progressive deployment of the Lebanese army for a period of 60 days.
