The Center for the Development of Local Languages through Business and African Film Festivals in Kano, Nigeria continues to hold a major six-day film festival, which began earlier this week.
Film producers and directors from within and outside Nigeria are participating in the event, and on the other hand, there is an exhibition of cultural art and traditional food and clothing.
Information says that Kano state is a place where movies are conducted and the sector is the third place in creating jobs in the state.
The festival, which continues to run, tries to develop the rich culture of Kano and other African regions through films and focusing on cultural documentaries to promote the traditional culture of the region and increase income from travel.
Alhaji Abdulkareem Muhammad, the leader of the African language film festival in Kano, told the BBC that they are looking at the current situation of returning to the internet system and that is why they are trying, “If we do it again, the things we inherited from parents and ancestors of our morals and our lives.”
Alhaji Abdulkareem Muhammad said that they are trying to train the youth to use their language wherever they find themselves, “because if the language is used then it will be protected from disappearing from the earth.”
In this conference, there is a part where filmmakers are taught how to work from how to turn a written story into a film and satisfy the audience.
Dr Musa Abdullahi Sufi, one of the lecturers at the meeting, presented an essay on how Kannywood movies contribute to, ‘Changing people’s thinking, especially on leadership.’
Also, the conference on African films discussed the problems faced by film production, especially Kannywood, where a long study was done.
Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino is one of the participants of the meeting and said that they understand that competing in movies requires a person to increase his talent in doing what is needed.
Raihana Alhassan is a writer and she said that the event opened her mind so that she can continue to create interesting stories.
On the other hand, this conference is a platform for the screening of films made in African languages, where a criterion is set to select sixteen films that will be awarded among more than a hundred films. five who participated in the competition from thirty five countries.
And on Saturday, the 30th of this month of Nuwanba, the closing day of the event, the winning films will be announced.
