“I know that I have a voice as a writer and I have to use that voice for those who cannot speak, I am not the only exile from Nicaragua, there are thousands who have left for different reasons (…) I am morally obliged to “Be their voice and not remain silent in the face of injustice or oppression,” he said.
Ramirez presented in the Mexican International Book Fair (FIL) from Guadalajara his most recent book The golden horsea novel in which her childhood memories emerge in parallel to a story starring a princess from the Carpathians, in which picaresque and humor are mixed.
In a conversation with the Mexican writer, screenwriter and director Guillermo Arriaga, Ramirez He assured that his profession has helped him cope with the exile that took him to Spain in 2021, after publishing his previous book Tongolele didn’t know how to dance.
“Nowadays, for me, nostalgia has this sadness of the possibility of not returning, which is a much greater burden, but in one case or another, I am not just any exile, in the sense that I am a writer, yes. “If I weren’t a writer, perhaps exile would be a heavier burden for me,” he said.

The 38th edition of the fair takes place from November 30 to December 8 to welcome 850 authors from 43 countries speaking in 19 different languages and with 850,000 people expected to attend 623 book presentations and 3,000 literary activities.
