Turnpike lanes are open after an accident with two tractor-trailers and multiple injuries closed all WB travel from Morgantown to Reading.

MORGANTOWN, PA — All lanes on the Pennsylvania Turnpike are reopened after a serious accident Wednesday afternoon that caused multiple injuries.

All westbound lanes were closed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike after an accident involving two tractor-trailers near Morgantown, with more than a dozen injured, according to early reports. The PA Turnpike reported all lanes were reopened at 6:25 p.m.

Traffic was detoured to State Route 10 South to State Route 23 West to US Route 322 West to Route 222 North. Motorists could re-enter the Turnpike at the Reading Interchange, the Turnpike authority reported.

Lancaster County Commissioner Ray D’Agostino posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, “Mass casualty accident on PA Turnpike westbound near milepost 292.7 involving tractor-trailer into a line of vehicles. Over a dozen people injured and over a dozen EMS units responding. Avoid the area and pray for the injured.”

PA State Trooper Holly Reber-Billings reported at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday, “Due to two crashes involving 8 vehicles in Brecknock Township in Lancaster County, the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be temporarily closed westbound from Morgantown to Reading interchanges.”

No information was available on Wednesday night regarding those injured.
