Cindy V.—she did not reveal her real name to protect her identity—is identified as the mother of a daughter of the former president Morales during a period when he was a minor. During the conversation with the international media, he addressed the case without providing details about the alleged relationship he had with Morales.
On Monday, Morales was summoned again by the Bolivian justice system to give his statement for the investigation in which he is accused of the crimes of human trafficking and statutory rape, when he held the Presidency of the State.
The court of Criminal Instruction, Anti-Corruption and Against Violence towards Women of Tarija (south) notified the former president by edict and set his hearing on precautionary measures for January 14, 2025, at 09:30 am. It is expected that, in that session, the judge will decide whether Morales He will face the process in freedom or under preventive detention.
The young woman stated that, until now, “a half-truth” has been told and assured that the process promoted by the Bolivian State against her is, in reality, “political” and “does not seek justice” for her, the media reported. DNews.
“I’m in a dangerous situation, I’m in a dangerous situation. I come escaping. I am being persecuted by the Arce Government, by the Bolivian Government. “I am being persecuted by the police, I am being persecuted by the Prosecutor’s Office and I am the victim,” she described.
When asked by the journalist what she would say to Morales, she stated: “I want to tell him; but not only him, not only this government, its officials… they involved me in their political struggles; They used my case, they used my name, they used my family to open this case, which I did not initiate, I did not open it, it was opened through a report from the Prosecutor’s Office. “They put it all together, they got my parents involved.”
“With lies, with threats, they harassed usall this time they have been harassing us with the same thing. I told them, please don’t put my daughter’s life at risk, but they didn’t listen. And yet, putting my daughter’s life at risk, they did it,” the young woman added.
Cindy assured that she has been used and stated that “everyone has taken part in this.” Furthermore, he regretted that the existence of a girl, his daughter, nor the consequences that this case may have for her and her family had not been considered.
“They have taken away my right to work, they have taken away my right to freedom, they have taken away my right to education (…) They have been accomplices, they are the real traffickers, but they incriminate my parents. Today they look for me not only to silence me, not only to silence me. “I’m not missing, I’m safeguarding my daughter’s life,” she said.
During the interview, the young woman insisted that everything has been put together: “They handle justicethey have allowed the departmental prosecutor to persecute my family; Right now at this moment there are people who are watching my house, at this moment we are being watched and persecuted (…) they want to criminalize my family. “They have put this process together,” he said.
In addition, he clarified that his family has benefited from his alleged relationship with former President Morales.
Cindy V. detailed the key dates of the events and stated that her daughter was born in 2016, although she was officially registered in 2017. As she explained, the birth certificate, publicly known, confirms this information. The decision to register her daughter in the civil system triggered what she describes as persecution both then and now. He pointed out the participation of three main figures in this context: Evo Morales, whom he avoided naming directly; Sandra Gutiérrez, prosecutor of Tarija; and Eduardo del Castillo, current Minister of Government.
“We made the complaint in 2017, the registration was made before an Official’s Office, because that was my mother’s decision. Since we couldn’t do it any other way, we did it (this way), to see if there really was justice; but nobody did anything. (…) The day I went to register my daughter, when I went (to the civil registry office), only two girls were there, the civil registry officer was not there. I registered it legally. In the afternoon, hours after I registered it, because it was almost noon when I registered it, already in the afternoon the registration officer (civilian), who was not there when I registered, arrived to force me to delete the record,” Cindy said.
And he added: “They didn’t want me to register my daughter like I did.. I believe that every child and every human being has that right. And I did it according to the law.” According to her story, the civil registry officer tried to force her to cancel her daughter’s registration, using threats, but Cindy refused to do so.
“At that time we decided to remain silent, because two children had already disappeared and I did not want that to happen to my daughter. We were silent all that time. But in 2019, both the now Minister of Government and the departmental prosecutor of Tarija, who (now) through all the press outlets come out to say that I am the victim, that it must be investigated… She met my daughter, She met her when my daughter was younger; she knew her physically, saw her, touched her. And in the same way, Eduardo del Castillo met my daughter,” Cindy concluded.
Cindy V. revealed that in 2019, during the election campaign, the current Government Minister, Eduardo del Castillovisited his house and demanded that he leave Bolivia, arguing that his life and that of his family were in danger. Cindy recounted the difficulties of her childhood after being abandoned by her father. He explained that his mother worked a lot and that this situation contributed to him growing up with little supervision. According to her testimony, she kept what happened to Morales a secret until 2017, when she decided to confess it to her mother due to the emotional discomfort she felt. He assured that, although he wanted to report, he feared retaliation.
Cindy criticized the Prosecutor’s Office process, stating that it is full of fabricated evidence. He said that more than 150 trips abroad are attributed to himwhen in reality he only left the country once, in 2018, to attend a conference in Venezuela as a student. “I paid my ticket myself. “That was my only departure from the country and it was by plane,” he said.
