The son of Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Marius Borg Høibyis being investigated for another alleged sexual assault that would be added to the two for which he was arrested this Monday, November 18 in Oslo. The young man, who is currently in pre-trial detention, may be charged with a new rape in the Tønsberg district.
As revealed by the Norwegian newspaper See and Hearthe police of said district are investigating a third rape who has not joined the case that is currently being tried in Oslo because it is a case that formally belongs to the Southeast police district.
The aforementioned media clarifies that at the moment it is unknown whether Høiby is accused in this third case or he is only being investigated as a suspect. Furthermore, the Tønsberg police have declined to comment on this case: “The matter is not our concern. “All investigations into Høiby are now in the hands of the Oslo police.”
What the Norwegian media has been able to find out is that Marius’ ex-girlfriend, Juliane Snekkestad, has been questioned by the police in the investigation of this third case of alleged rape, something that the young woman’s lawyer, Petter Grødem, has confirmed: “I can confirm that she has been questioned today as a witness in the case against Marius Borg Høiby. Beyond that, I have no comment,” he said this Wednesday.
The latest arrest of Marius Borg and the three rapes of which he is accused add to the judicial problems of Prince Haakon’s controversial stepson, whose criminal record has generated a deep crisis in the Norwegian royal house.
Currently, there are six victims in the criminal case against Marius Borg Høiby:
- His ex-girlfrienda woman in her 20s. Høiby was initially charged with bodily harm and damage at his Frogner apartment in Oslo on the night of Sunday, August 4. The charge was later expanded, first to a further case of bodily injury and now to abuse in close relationships. The young man is also accused of violating a ban on visits and contacts. In a statement on August 14, he admitted to having committed acts of violence and harm while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.
- Juliane Snekkestad. Mette-Marit’s son is accused of abuse in close relationships against his ex-girlfriend, although he denies guilt. They were a couple for almost five years. The relationship ended in February 2022.
- Nora Haukland. He is also accused of abuse in close relationships against his ex-girlfriend. They were together between 2022 and 2023. He also denies his guilt in this case.
- A man of about 20 years old. Høiby is accused of having threatened to kill in a message on Instagram. He has pleaded guilty to this.
- A fourth woman. Marius Borg is accused of having sexual relations with her while she was unconscious or unable to resist the act.
- A fifth woman. As published The daily newspaperthe police opened an investigation after finding videos of the alleged sexual assaults committed by Marius on these last two victims. The sixth occurred at the young man’s residence in Skaugum on September 26, although the accused denies all responsibility in these two cases.
