Five months before the controversial presidential elections in Venezuela and when they are missing only 13 days for the scheduled date inauguration of Edmundo González Urrutia, Maria Corina Machado sent an important message to the militaryone of the bastions of the regime Nicolas Maduro.
In a video broadcast on social networks, the opposition leader valued “the duty, honor and privilege that the Homeland has conferred on you, to carry the weapons and insignia of the nation (…) with the sacred and exclusive purpose of defend the safety of our peoplethe integrity of our territory and the full validity of our constitutional and democratic order”.
These tasks, however, have been overshadowed by the criminal nature of chavismowho “for more than 20 years has demonstrated his irresponsibility (…) and ineptitude” towards the people, Machado said, and asked the officers, therefore, to examine their actions in the privacy of their conscience.
“Ask yourself if those who direct your component order you to use these weapons to guard our territory or if, rather, (…) they are being used to subdue and massacre the people. Ask yourself if these weapons, whose exclusive use the nation confers on you, are today truly at the service of the sovereign will of the Venezuelans, their Constitution and their laws, or if they are only They serve a group of corrupt and criminals, to live the high life while our country bleeds non-stop“, questioned the opponent in reference to the hundreds of crimes that have been committed in the last decade in the country, by orders of the Miraflores Palace.
Machado also appealed to those soldiers who may not have had an active role in these criminal activities but who are also part of an organization that serves the regime.
“Ask yourself if Silence does not make you complicit in the current tyrannyand undue obedience does not put you at the service of a handful of criminals and if you inaction in these moments it does not make you victimizer of your own Venezuelan brothers”said the leader of Vente Venezuela (VV).
In view of this, just five months after the people strongly expressed their desire for change at the polls and voted for González Urrutia, the opposition leader called on this “great family” to enforce the democratic order now. be “part of the change towards a bright and decent destiny”for which anti-Chavismo has been fighting recently.
“The time has come for the definition (…) and is only waiting for the collective resolution to act. The time to tear down the last obstacle that separates us from freedom has arrived. I trust in you, in the moral reserve of our men of honor and at arms, and that you are just one step away from doing the right thing.”, he pointed out with conviction and hope that this sector will do what is right for the country and its people, and lay down their weapons at the orders of the regime.
“See you soon on the streets of Venezuela,” concluded Machado, who usually calls on his followers to go out throughout the country to demonstrate against Chavismo.
The inauguration of the next Venezuelan president is scheduled for January 10, so González Urrutia has already announced that he will return to Caracas to take office, although without specifying how or when he will do so. However, Maduro still refuses to leave the Miraflores Palace and, with the support of the ruling National Assembly, assured that he will be sworn in that Friday.
In fact, the day before he called on people to take to the streets and gather for “the celebration of peace and joy.”
