The incident occurs just a week after a 62 year old man attacked a crowd with his vehicle in front of a sports center in the city of Zhuhaileaving at least 35 dead and 43 injured before fleeing in what became the deadliest attack in China in the last decade.

According to authorities, the aggressor, identified by his last name Fan, acted motivated by dissatisfaction following a divorce dispute related to the division of assets.

Just a few days later, a knife attack at a vocational school in the city of Yixingin the eastern province of Jiangsu, left eight dead and 17 injured. The person responsible, a 21-year-old former student who was due to graduate this year but failed to pass his exams, was arrested.

Aggressors, motivated by frustrations related to legal, sentimental or business disputes, indiscriminately attack innocent people in public spaces.

On social networks, Internet users have pointed out that these attacks generate an “imitation effect”, where a notable incident can inspire similar ones.
