Venezuela’s opposition leader Maria Corina Machado launched a forceful call to citizens to remain “attentive, alert and focused” in the face of upcoming events that could mark the political future of the country.
In a message recorded and broadcast on the social network X, Machado asked the Venezuelan people “pay close attention to the signs that will arise” in the coming weeks and stressed the importance of being prepared to act at the right time.
“I want to ask you to be ready to do what is appropriate when the right moment arrives.“, expressed Machado, without detailing the actions to follow.
In his message, Machado also reaffirmed the solidity of the popular mandate which was ratified by voters on July 28, 2024, during the presidential elections, in which Edmundo González Urrutia was elected president.
The opposition leader categorically rejected the efforts of the regime Nicolas Maduro to discredit that result and reiterated that the will of the people is “irreversible.”
“The popular and sovereign mandate of July 28 is irreversible. Nobody can erase it”, stated Machado when supporting the legitimacy of the electoral process and claiming the victory of the opposition against what he considered an illegitimate regime.
The anti-Chavista did not hesitate to point out that the Maduro dictatorship, despite having the support of the Armed forces and the powers of the State, is using its “brute force” to try to maintain control of the country.
According to the opposition leader, these types of actions reflect Chavismo’s fear of inevitable defeat. “They know that their exit is getting closer every day and that it is impossible to stop this town when it rises.”, he stated, alluding to the growing popular rejection of the Maduro regime.
He also pointed out that not even with “their own abusive, corrupt, dirty rules” could they avoid their “monumental defeat” in the primaries and the presidential elections, highlighting that the people are no longer willing to be complicit with the regime.
In the framework of his message, Machado also referred to the call for a “huge protest” scheduled for December 1as part of the fight for electoral justice and the restitution of democracy.
The opposition standard-bearer accused the Chavista leadership of repressing the demonstrations violently, with more than 2,400 people detaineds, according to official figures, who are accused of “violence” and “vandalism.”
The opposition member assured that the repression will not stop the people’s desire for change, and urged citizens to join in the protest to demand the departure of the regime.
He also called for the unity of the Venezuelan people, remembering that the January 10 is the date established by the Constitution of Venezuela for the change of government, an event that according to her, will take place despite Maduro’s attempts to remain in power.
In his message, he expressed his confidence that citizen mobilization and international pressure They will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the popular will.
“The next few weeks precede the fulfillment of the promise of freedom that God has made to man and that we have ratified among brothers”, he stated.
Christmas, according to Machado, symbolizes a new beginning for Venezuela. In his message, he suggested that the end-of-year festivities should represent not only a time of reflection, but also a time of renewal for the nation.
“Let’s recover its original meaning… that of a new beginning“, he expressed, inviting all Venezuelans to prepare for the coming weeks, which he considers crucial to achieve the change that the people have decided.
He concluded his message with an invitation to be united, attentive and prepared for what is to come, without forgetting the importance of solidarity between citizens and collective action.
Machado made it clear that the change that is coming is a product of the constant struggle of the Venezuelan people and the determination of leaders like her and Edmundo González Urrutia.
Despite the repression and obstacles imposed by the Maduro regime, the opposition leader affirmed that the liberation of Venezuela It is a reality that will materialize in the near future, and that the people are getting closer to achieving the justice they long for.
