JAMB Clears the Air HND Graduates NYSC Eligibility Beyond Our Mandate

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB has clarified its role concerning HND graduates eligibility for the National Youth Service Corps NYSC Responding to claims from some HND graduates who have been unable to join the NYSC scheme JAMB emphasized that it only oversees undergraduate admissions and National Diploma ND programs not Higher National Diploma HND courses

In a statement issued on Monday JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin referred to Section 52 of the boards governing legislation which specifies that JAMBs responsibilities do not extend to admissions for postgraduate or other nonundergraduate programs Benjamin explained that some students had enrolled in ND programs without JAMBs direct involvement though the board later approved these admissions as a courtesy However JAMB has no further role in students academic progression once they move on to HND studies

Its misguided to blame JAMB for challenges unrelated to our mandate the board stated Some students the board added may have crossed into questionable practices to obtain their HND admissions In such cases JAMB hinted that it would address any criminal concerns raised
