Ian Greenberg death – cause of death – Ian Greenberg, a famous Canadian media pioneer, businessman, and co-founder of Astral media, Inc. passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 79. He served as its President and Chief Executive Officer for 25 years, from 1996 until his death on Monday.
He was born in Montreal, Quebec, on June 15, 1942. He attended Harvard Business School’s six-week Advanced Management program. In 1961 along with his three brothers, Harold, Sidney, and Harvey, he founded Astral Media, Inc. After Harold’s death, Ian assumed control of the company and gradually transformed the company, which began as a photographic specialty business, into a pure-play media company (in the 1990s), focused on television, radio, out-of-home advertising, and digital media properties.
He and his brothers were awarded the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanities Award for their exceptional contributions to philanthropic endeavors in 1993. He was a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and a governor of the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. He was also a member of the board of directors of Cineplex Entertainment.
He lived in Montreal and had a house in Miami, Florida, with his wife Linda. They had three children and nine grandchildren.
