Abu Zubaydah is a Saudi Arabian imprisoned at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba by the United States.

He is being held under the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Terrorists (AUMF).

Zubaydah was apprehended in Pakistan in March 2002 and has spent the majority of his time in US captivity, including four and a half years in the CIA’s secret prison network (CIA).

Zubaydah ultimately got active in the Khalden training camp, a jihadist training facility where he controlled the flow of recruits.

On March 28, 2002, CIA and FBI officers stormed multiple safe homes in Pakistan to pursue Zubaydah in collaboration with Pakistani intelligence.

He was moved between jails in numerous countries, including a year in Poland as a part of the US extraordinary rendition program, 

Zubaydah was tortured severely while in CIA custody, being waterboarded 83 times.

He has been facing a variety of additional methods like forced nudity, sleep deprivation, denial of solid meals, stress postures, and physical attacks.

Zubaydah’s interrogations were recorded on videotape, which the CIA destroyed in 2005.

Abu Zubaydah: The Forever Prisoner Age And Bio Explored

Abu Zubaydah is currently 50 years old. The terrorist was born on March 12, in the year 1971. 

They had eight siblings, according to his younger brother Hesham.

Hesham recalls his older brother as “a happy-go-lucky person who was a bit of a womanizer.”

Zubaydah was born in Saudi Arabia and went to the West Bank as a youngster, where he took part in Palestinian anti-Israel protests.

Before his departure to Afghanistan/Pakistan at the age of 20, Zubaydah has studied computer science in Mysore, India.

He joined the mujahideen in the Afghan civil war, possibly under Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi.

In September 2006, Zubaydah and eleven other “high-value prisoners” were moved to Guantanamo.

According to recent reports, the terrorist is still in Guantanamo.

He and other former CIA captives are housed in Camp 7, with the most isolating circumstances.

Zubaydah said the CIA informed him that he was not noteworthy at his Combatant Status Review Tribunal in 2007.

The European Court of Human Rights ordered Poland to pay Zubaydah €100,000 in damages on July 24, 2014.

He was also given €30,000 to pay his expenses. In 2002–2003, Poland aided the US by allowing the CIA to detain and torture Zubaydah on its soil.

Zubaydah stated that he would donate the entire €100,000 in damages to torture victims through his US lawyer. Zubaydah’s counsel is Joseph Margulies.
