German director Tom Tykwer will open the 75th Berlinale with “The Light”

The world premiere of the German-French film The light (The Light-La Luz), by the German director Tom Tykwerwill open the 75th edition of the Berlin International Film Festivalwhich will start next February 13, and will do so out of competition, within the section Berlinale Special Galathe organization announced this Thursday in a statement.

For his part, Tykwer, who opened the festival on two previous occasions, in 2002, with Heaven (in the sky), his first international production; and in 2009, with the political thriller The International (International agent“), said he was “delighted” to open the festival with his most recent film. “The Berlinale is the festival of my life. The city is my destiny. This film is my desire, added the director and screenwriter.

The light tells the story of the Engels family, which consists of Tim (Lars Eidinger), Milena (Nicolette Krebitz), their twins in common, Frieda (Every Biesendorfer) y Jon (Julius Gause), and Milena’s son, Dio (Elyas Eldridge). They form a family that lives together but nothing keeps them together until the housekeeper Farrah (Tala Al-Deen).
