The opponent Pedro Urruchurtu -one of the six asylum seekers since March in the official residence of the Argentine Embassy in Venezuela- denounced this Wednesday that “the siege” continues around the property by state security agents.
Urruchurtu, close collaborator of the opposition leader Maria Corina Machadostated on his account on the social network X: “November 27. 8:00 AM. There have already been more than 85 hours of continuous siege of the residence of the Argentine Embassy in Caracas, protected by Brazilcon presence of regime officials to the outskirts.”
And he added: “They are also more than 36 hours without electrical service since the fuses were removed”.
Previously, he had indicated that the situation in the residence “still tense”, with officials in “the outskirts and a permanent siege” since 18:00 local time (22:00 GMT) last Saturday.
Meanwhile, the team ConVzlaof the majority opposition in Venezuela, denounced this Tuesday the theft of electrical fuses from the official residence of the Argentine Embassy in Caracas.
“Electrical fuses were stolen. The diplomatic headquarters remains without power. It is a violation of international conventions“, he expressed in X ConVzlawhich described the event as a “criminal attack”.
For its part, Magalli Meda -also isolated- said in X that it is a “run over” and of a “derision” for the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaand its diplomatic corps in the Caribbean country.
In addition to Urruchurtu and Meda, there are also Claudia MaceroCommunications Coordinator of Vente Venezuela (VV); Omar Gonzalezformer deputy; Humberto Villaloboselectoral coordinator of the VV Campaign Command, and the former minister Fernando Martínez Mottolaadvisor to the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), the largest opposition bloc.
The six took refuge in March after the Prosecutor’s Office accused them of several crimesas conspiracy and treason.
On Saturday, the Argentine Government condemned the “acts of harassment and intimidation against asylum seekers” at its Embassy in Caracas.
This Monday, the opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia he said, in an interview with the news agency EFEwhat do you see with “a lot of worry” the situation in the Argentine embassy and what is, in his opinion, “absolutely illogical, with electricity cuts, water supply cuts and surveillance that prevents them from accessing the supply”.
In another order, the Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado thanked this Tuesday for the support expressed by the G7 countries towards the victory of the standard bearer of the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), Edmundo González Urrutia in the presidential elections of July.
“We appreciate this new declaration of the G7, under the Presidency of Italy, which demonstrates the magnitude of international support for the fight for democracy in Venezuela”expressed Machado in your social network account X.
Likewise, he celebrated that the political and economic forum reaffirmed its call for a “democratic transition” in the country and demanded the end of political persecution and the release of all political prisoners.
“On July 28, the Venezuelan people expressed themselves clearly at the polls, voting for democratic change and supporting Edmundo González Urrutia with a significant majority. “We will continue to support the efforts of regional partners to facilitate a democratic and peaceful transition, with Venezuelan guidance, that guarantees respect for the will of the voters,” the joint statement states.
For its part, the regime of Nicolás Maduro rejected the statement of G7 and warned that it will review its diplomatic relations with the countries that make up the coalition (Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, United Kingdom and United States).
