Within the confrontation between Noboa and Abad, The vice president has denounced the president for alleged harassment and political gender violence to supposedly force her to resign and thus avoid having to delegate presidential functions to her, as contemplated by the Constitution.

The ruler has appointed Sariha Moya as acting vice president.
