‘Chito’ Vera cannot beat Figueiredo and falls on his return to the UFC

It was his return to the octagon after losing the title in March and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera faced the Brazilian Figueiredo in Abu Dhabi UFC 166, and although he had sparks in the fight, in the end the Ecuadorian was defeated by decision at the end of the three rounds.

As usual, the Ecuadorian fighter started with some caution, and although he tried to put pressure on the Brazilian, the first two rounds had Figueiredo as the clear winner.

He sought the knockout in the last round but Figueiredo was entrenched and on more than one occasion he unleashed blows that seemed to end the fight, however the Ecuadorian made it to the end.

The judges gave the Brazilian the victory by unanimous decision, this fight was key for Chito Vera to remain at the top of the UFC bantamweight rankings, much more so if he wanted another title fight on the horizon.
