“We are going to demand that the elected president of the Republic not invite dictators to the inauguration on March 1st. We do not want dictators like Díaz-Canel, like Maduro, like Ortega, in Uruguay. March 1 is a democratic holiday for Uruguayans and we do not accept dictators who violate human rights, who oppress their people in Latin America in our country.“said the sector deputy Juan Martin Rodriguez.
“We are going to demand that the President of the Republic honor the democratic institutions and the most important values of our country,” he continued.
On Monday, the president-elect had his first meeting with the former president Jose Mujica. Upon leaving his visit to the former president’s farm, Orsi was consulted about Maduro’s invitation to his inauguration. “We’ll see,” was his response. One of the issues that the two leaders will agree on is the strategy for the summit of the Mercosur on December 6, which Orsi will attend as a guest of Lacalle Pou.
